Newbie Blogger Million Dollar Question: How to be Approved of a Google Adsense Account?

Sad day for me :(

After excitedly waiting for 48 hours for the result of my Google AdSense Application, it was disapproved! *boohoo*

It's ironic because I'm a loan consultant who screens clients' applications and documents to advise them if they're qualified or not to avail the loan programs I handle. If qualified, I guide them on the best way to maximize their chances of approval and to optimize the loan amount approved. The banks also process the loan applications in just as short as 24-48 hours to generate a credit decision. For a declined loan application, a client through his or her loan consultant may request for a RECON (reconsideration).

In this case, I am the one in need of an expert Google Adsense Earner to tell me what possibly could have gone wrong and how to address it for a reconsideration. Oh, what a heart breaker *sob*

I opted to blog about this topic rather than post a question on Blogger's help forum because as you can notice, I write long narratives (please bear with me) but honestly I need an expert's opinion, so kindly indulge a  newbie. I hope to hear from anyone knowledgeable on this.

My new motto: It's never too late for second chances *wink*

According to the email I received, the reason for the decline was Page Type issues. Further detail says:

Page type: Your website is a type of website that we do not currently
accept into our program. Such websites include, but are not limited to,

1. Chat sites - I'm definite that this was not the problem because my blog is not a chat site. (clear!)

2. Sites that drive traffic through cybersquatting - I'm a little concerned about this. I browsed cybersquatting and it was defined by Wikipedia as:

"Cybersquatting (also known as domain squatting), according to the United States federal law known as the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act, is registering, trafficking in, or using a domain name with bad faith intent to profit from the goodwill of a trademark belonging to someone else. The cybersquatter then offers to sell the domain to the person or company who owns a trademark contained within the name at an inflated price."

My URL is: http://laarnisulitizen.blogspot.com/

I chose this URL (laarnisulitizen) primarily because I opened it to join a blogwriting contest hosted by Sulit.com.ph on the definition of Sulitizen, a term they use for their registered website users. my URL is very far from their domain name and I don't think Sulitizen is a patented word. Anyway, it was definitely not in bad faith that I chose my URL as such but only because I was not really a serious blogger before and didn't have the foresight to think of a more creative name for my blogsite.

If this has been the problem, there's an option here on Blogger to change the URL name but would doing so make it a different and new blog site which would cost me to lose my former traffic and ranking (as if... haha). If so, then I suppose that would  mean I'll be ineligible for AdSense because the blog must at least be 6 months old to qualify. There is also an option to switch to a Custom Domain for $10 a year but would this just redirect my new registered domain name to my old blog and also be considered as a new blogsite? Or could it be that renaming the url will do just that, rename it! And I'll still be able to maintain my contents, comments and most importantly for my AdSense approval's sake, the original registration date? Oh please advise, which is which .... Geez!

3. Sites that use excessive keywords in the content or code of their pages. (Uh...oh!)

As I was waiting for the result, I kept clicking the Monetize Tab every time I sign in to check for the status. I noticed the Amazon Associates Tab and got curious and signed up. Then, there was a box where you can link your words in your blog to advertise their products. I found it cool so I went happy clicking, and linked a lot of keywords on my blog. I thought it was allowed because the tab is on Blogger. Please give me your thoughts about this, AdSense earners.

Then I also checked the AdSenseforfeeds Tab and signed up also then added the RSS Button to my blog.

Previously, I installed a lot of HTML/JAVA on my blog's Right Side Bar like Facebook Page Plug Ins, the FB Like Button, the Twitter Follow Me Button and the Linkwithin widget (footer) and I also added the popular gadget Recent Comments. I also uploaded a lot of pictures on my blog, some of them from my computer, others from my Photobucket Account (when you click a picture from Photobucket it will open in a new window with its URL).

Google Adsence Terms and Conditions (Philippines) Section 2 paragraph 5: (In blue fonts  are issues, I might or might not have violated.)

General; Serviced Pages; Filtering; Beta Features. You agree not to display on the same Web page in connection with which any Ad Unit, Ad, Link, Search Box, or Referral Button is displayed (a "Serviced Page") any advertisement(s) or content that an end user of Your Property(ies) would reasonably confuse with a Google advertisement or otherwise associate with Google. Certain Google services available as part of the Program may contain filtering capability, such as SafeSearch or AdSafe, that You may access through Your account. However, if You elect to enable any such filters, You acknowledge and agree that: (i) it is Your responsibility to enable such features in accordance with the specifications provided by Google, and (ii) Google does not and cannot commit that all results (including Ads, Links and Search Results) will be limited to results elected by enabling such filter(s). Some Program features are identified as “Beta” or otherwise unsupported (“Beta Features”).  To the fullest extent permitted by law, Beta Features are provided "as is" and at Your option and risk.  You shall not disclose to any third party any information from Beta Features, existence of non-public Beta Features or access to Beta Features.
I am not sure if these affected the result of my application so I deleted all the ad links and gadgets I installed, except for the Photobucket uploaded photos because they're integral parts of my blogs.

I was on Blogger since August 2010 but I only became really active in my blog postings this month of June 2011. I have a total of 11 all original blog contents each having 200-400 words or more when I applied for Adsense. I think I have enough good materials and still counting.

After the corrections I made,  I resubmitted my application and now once again excitedly waiting for another 48 hours to 1 week or more to get the result. I just hope I am not committing any major blunder by blogging about this experience because their email regarding the status of my Adsense Application did not indicate it as "Confidential."

Google Adsense Terms on Conditions on Confidentiality:
7.      Confidentiality. You agree not to disclose Google Confidential Information without Google's prior written consent. "Google Confidential Information" includes without limitation: (a) all Google software, technology, programming, specifications, materials, guidelines and documentation relating to the Program; (b) click-through rates or other statistics relating to Property performance in the Program provided to You by Google; and (c) any other information designated in writing by Google as "Confidential" or an equivalent designation. However, You may accurately disclose the amount of Google’s gross payments to You pursuant to the Program. Google Confidential Information does not include information that has become publicly known through no breach by You or Google, or information that has been (i) independently developed without access to Google Confidential Information, as evidenced in writing; (ii) rightfully received by You from a third party; or (iii) required to be disclosed by law or by a governmental authority.
Likewise, quoting the Adsense Terms and Conditions above which has already been publicly known should really not pose an issue, right?

I'll update you on the result of my reapplication to let you know if the corrections I made are effective. Meanwhile, I will apreciate advise coming from expert AdSense earners. I hope you'd be generous to share and impart your knowledge about my concerns.

Good luck to other newbie Bloggers like me who enjoy what they do but would enjoy it even better if they could earn from it too! :)
